Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) signed on Wednesday the first commercial agreement with Hapag-Lloyd to increase the number of transhipment containers in Saudi ports.

The one-year deal will contribute to raising transhipment operations at Jeddah Islamic Port, according to a press release.

Moreover, the agreement is a continuation of Mawani’s initiatives launched within its ambitious strategy to attract major international liner shipping companies, in line with the pillars of the Saudi Vision 2030 aimed at bolstering the kingdom’s position in terms of investment and logistics.

So far, Mawani accounts for nearly 20% of the transhipment market in the region and 80% of the total transhipment market in the Red Sea. It seeks to dominate more than 50% of the transhipment container market by the end of 2030.
