State-owned Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) has awarded two contracts to the UK's Baker Hughes and Corpro Systems worth around 16.1 million Kuwaiti dinars ($53 million ), a newspaper reported on Wednesday.

The two five-year contracts involve testing rocks and sand at KOC's oil sites for better drilling performance, the Arabic language daily Alanba said.

It quoted KOC sources as saying the contract for Baker Hughes is worth around 9.29 million dinars ($30.65 million ) while the project won by Corpro Systems has a value of 6.9 million dinars ($22.35 million ).
