Jordan's Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) welcomed a total of 2.54 million passengers in April this year, thus registering an increase of 7.6 per cent in year-to-date passenger numbers compared to the same period last year. 

According to figures released by Airport International Group (AIG), the Jordanian company responsible for the expansion and operation of QAIA, the airport also witnessed 22,938 aircraft movements, which marks a 0.7 per cent decrease from last year, in addition to handling 34,225 tonne of cargo during the first four months of 2018, thus registering a 8.6 per cent growth over previous year.

The QAIA had welcomed a total of 727,301 passengers in April, up 5.5 per cent compared to the same period the previous year. 

Moreover, the aircraft movements totaled 6,329 movements, while cargo reached 9,534 tonnes, pointing to a 2.3 and an 8.1 per cent growth respectively, said a senior official.

"It is encouraging to see such positive progress this April," remarked Airport International Group CEO Kjeld Binger.

"We are looking forward to the favourable results the summer and upcoming holiday seasons will bring, as visitors all around the world pass through our halls, whether on their way to exciting destinations or paying a visit to our beloved Jordan," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
