MANAMA: Khalid Al Zayani has been re-elected executive committee chairman for the 2021-2023 term at the Bahrain British Business Forum (BBBF), with Paula Boast as the deputy chair.

The committee includes Phillip Solarski as treasurer and Nasser Al Arayedh as secretary with Ava Garbutt, Mark Gravener, Maureen Bannerman, Mike Jackson and Zee Bassila as members.

The announcement follows the association’s annual general meeting held at the Gulf Hotel, with British Ambassador Roddy Drummond in attendance.

The meeting was highlighted by the re-election of majority of the current committee members and the addition of one new committee member - Ms Bannerman - for the new term.

It was also announced that Dena Wales has become the new executive manager of the forum.

In his annual report summarising the forum’s activities during the year and outlining the BBBF’s financial highlights, Mr Al Zayani said, “Despite the tumultuous year, the BBBF continued to strengthen its position as the largest and most active business group in Bahrain, as demonstrated by the successful online events during the year. It never ceases to amaze me how diverse our membership is, and how many great business leaders and entrepreneurs we are fortunate to have as members. We look forward to welcoming new members, particularly new Bahraini members to boost our membership even further.”

Mr Al Zayani also expressed his appreciation for the forum’s corporate sponsors: Euro Motors, CharlesRussell Speechlys, Etihad Airways, Gulf Brands International, RSA, Bahrain Financial Harbour and Yoiku PR.

“I would also like to thank Mr Drummond and deputy ambassador Stuart Summers for their unwavering support. The committee looks forward to making the year ahead even more successful,” concluded Mr Al Zayani.

Under the challenging conditions brought on by the global pandemic during 2020 and the first half of 2021, the BBBF shifted its networking meetings online, arranging numerous online events and collaborations with other networking organisations in the region. The forum’s online meetings were successful during the year, featuring high-profile speakers from local businesses and government entities, including ministers, and business and community leaders, from Bahrain and the UK.
