Banks have been reportedly asking customers to furnish address details in compliance with the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority’s (SAMA) directive to implement the National Address System.
The National Address System is a unified address data storage through the Geographic Information System (GIS).
The Kingdom introduced this system for the first time in the Arab world. It is considered a great leap in fast delivery of services with effective transparency. It also expands economic opportunities in digital era, besides improving navigation capabilities to send emergency services in case of disasters.
It also helps security forces reach crime scene faster.
Customers are required to furnish their location address to their banks.
They have been receiving messages from various banks in this regard.
Customers can furnish their address by updating their profile online in their bank account page or at https://address.gov.sa/en/
The National Address System commonly known as Unwan Al-Watani consists of six basic information: Building number, street name, neighborhood, city, postal code or zip code, additional phone number.
Mobile phone numbers being used for Absher services are also required to be linked with the National Address System.
The National Address System is part of the government’s decision to implement a unified address format.
It has been made mandatory for all types of dwellings.
Saudi Post Corporation is already using this system to provide a unified address system for over 4.5 million locations from remote villages to large cities across the Kingdom.
