Augmented reality healthcare technology company, Proximie, has signed an agreement with the Dubai Health Authority at the culmination of the nine-week Future Accelerators program paving the way for future collaboration.

It shows a commitment, in principle, of the possibilities of future working together after Proximie successfully demonstrated its ability to solve the three challenges set out at the beginning of the project, namely:

  • Improving the quality of life for patients through early and swift healthcare intervention
  • Reducing patient waiting time in emergency cases
  • Improving the accuracy and safety of surgeries, such as spinal surgery.

Proximie Managing Partner s.a.l. and Regional Director META, Bassem Hashash, said: “We are delighted to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Dubai Health Authority and look forward to working with them further to demonstrate how our augmented reality technology can provide solutions to improve healthcare processes.

The Dubai Future Accelerators (DFA) program was launched in 2016 to facilitate partnerships between entrepreneurs, private companies and the Dubai Government to tackle existing problems and innovate for the future. It looks to explore and deliver commercial partnerships between Dubai’s government entities and transformational technology companies, that benefit Dubai, the UAE and the world. Proximie is part of its fifth DFA cohort.

Proximie Regional Commercial Director for the Gulf, Tariq El-Titi, added: “Our technology allows doctors to virtually scrub into any operating theatre setting, offering expert advice or training guidance. The technology augments the real, physical world with additional, digitally generated content, allowing remote “hands-on” virtual assistance. The Future Accelerators program has been a fantastic opportunity for us to work closely with the Dubai Government and its key stakeholders.”

Dr Mohammed Al Redha, Director of Project Management Office, Informatics and Smart Health at the Dubai Health Authority said, “The Dubai Future Accelerators program is a platform that provides us with an opportunity to explore the use of cutting-edge technology in healthcare. Technology coupled with highly-qualified medical professionals can better healthcare processes and directly benefit patients. Our goal through this program is to utilize technology in the healthcare space to improve patient outcomes, patient care and healthcare processes. We at the DHA are looking forward to working with Proximie’s award-winning augmented reality technology platform and to explore innovative ways to enhance the delivery of care to our patients together”
