Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – Etihad Guest, the award-winning loyalty programme of Etihad Airways, and Emirates Islamic, one of the leading Islamic financial institutions in the country, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to partner in launching a new jointly branded credit card.

Yasser Al Yousuf, Vice President Commercial Partnerships, Etihad Airways said: “We are proud to expand our partnership with Emirates Islamic to bring a new card to the UAE market. Our partnership will further extend the reach of the Etihad Guest membership programme through the bank’s nationwide customer base and offer opportunities for its customers to enjoy the luxury travel, benefits and privileges Etihad Airways and Etihad Guest have to offer.”

Etihad Guest and Emirates Islamic have been in partnership since 2014, allowing the bank’s customers to convert their EI Smart Miles into Etihad Guest Miles, which can then be used to book flights or be redeemed on the airline’s Reward Shop. The new card will complement the existing programme, giving customers more opportunity to earn miles and redeem for rewards.

Wasim Saifi, Deputy Chief Executive Officer - Consumer Banking and Wealth Management at Emirates Islamic, said: “At Emirates Islamic, we always strive to provide our customers with the most innovative banking solutions to fulfil their lifestyle needs. We are pleased to partner with Etihad Guest to offer our customers the benefits of a versatile and dynamic loyalty programme.  As we continue to expand our offerings, especially for our Emirati customer base, I am confident that the new card, with its travel benefits and privileges, will be extremely well-received in the UAE market.”

Etihad Guest was launched in August 2006 and quickly established itself as one of the airline industry’s fastest-growing and most innovative loyalty programmes. The programme offers members the opportunity to earn Etihad Guest Miles on flights with more than 20 airline partners. Etihad Guest Miles can also be donated to charity, redeemed against a selection of flights to over 100 destinations, used to book rooms at over 300,000 hotels worldwide and to buy thousands of products from the Etihad Guest Reward Shop.
