Cairo : The Egyptian Banking Institute, the arm of the Central Bank of Egypt, has recently signed a cooperation agreement with Harvard Business School Executive Education to deliver a customized Executive Education Program targeting Senior Level Executive Positions in the Egyptian Banking Sector.

The program is conducted over two consecutive  weeks at the HBS Boston Campus, the United States of America, during the period from 27th October to 8th November, 2019.

It is worth mentioning that the program will tackle four main pillars: Leadership, Digitalization, Innovation, and Financial Strategic Thinking & Planning. Moreover, the program is delivered through active participation that includes Case Studies, Lectures, Meetings, Simulations and Interaction with Business School Faculty.

Due to the importance of this program and the distinctive knowledge provided, the inaugural program is attended by 46 participants from 17 banks and one financial company. The Egyptian Banking Institute is planning to conduct several rounds of this important program that aims at developing executives to achieve difference and positive impact for the entire banking sector.

The HBS agreement is considered a milestone in EBI’s sustainable efforts to bring the latest best practices and international expertise to Egypt to support its lifelong education efforts and professional training.

About EBI

EBI was Established in 1991 by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), as its official training arm to apply the best international practices to develop the technical and managerial skills of the banking and financial sector professionals with a vision to become the financial knowledge hub for Egypt and the surrounding region through providing integrated knowledge services for the financial sector and spreading financial literacy.

The unique blend of the Board of Directors, headed by the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, Mr. Tarek Amer, sets EBI in a leading position. The Board is composed of eight members consisting of bank’s Chairmen, economic experts, and industry leaders that come with high-level expertise and blend of diversity, making an important contribution in leading EBI in the financial and banking sectors.

In April 2009, EBI was awarded its first accreditation for a 5year term by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET) to become the first accredited financial training institute in Egypt and the region. In December 2014, EBI was re-accredited for a new term of 5 years until December 2019 and re-accredited for the third time for another 5 years term ending by 2024 for its strategic plan and continuous organizational commitment for quality training and adherence to international quality standards.

EBI masters various training areas with its edge in banking training complemented by managerial, leadership, IT training, and two specialized training units for SME and Corporate Governance.

EBI Services are not only limited to training, but its efforts are also dedicated to become the financial knowledge hub for Egypt and the MENA region by providing a wide range of diversified activities and services to disseminate knowledge and raise social awareness on different topics as well as offering various Assessment Tools, Consulting and Technical Assistance services.

As a community responsible institution, EBI launched Shaping the Future in 2012, a National initiative under the auspices of the Central Bank of Egypt to enhance and implement Financial Literacy and the development of Friendly Financial Products for Children and Youth in Egypt and the Middle East.  In addition to recognizing the importance of youth employment, CBE launched Training for Employment initiative in accordance with EBI to students in public universities with the aim of bridging the gap between academic education and the labor market requirements through financial literacy awareness sessions.
