Government of Dubai Media Office : The agenda for the region’s first INSEAD NAA UAE Leadership Forum, to be held in Dubai on 31 October 2019, was announced today. The one-day event will provide a platform for sharing diverse ideas and perspectives on promoting sustainable economic growth and shaping the future of the region.

A host of regional and global thought leaders, senior business executives, government officials and policy makers from across industries will engage in a dialogue on vital issues ranging from the economy, society and culture to technology, entrepreneurship and innovation. The Forum is being organised through a partnership between the INSEAD National Alumni Association (NAA) in the UAE, one of the world's leading graduate business schools, and the Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO).

The Forum’s first session titled ‘A New Vision for the Future’ will feature a keynote address that will outline the UAE’s national vision to advance further growth and foster an innovation-driven economy. The session will also look at how the Eight Principles of Governance and the Fifty-Year Charter, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, are setting the direction for Dubai’s future.

Another session titled ‘The Economic Outlook: Prospects for the UAE and the Region’, will discuss the UAE’s and the region’s growth expectations over the next few years as well as the prospects for key sectors. The fiscal policy of the UAE and the long-term impact of Expo 2020 will be some of the other key themes addressed in the session.

Noora Al Abbar, Director of Strategic Media Affairs, Government of Dubai Media Office, said: “Organising the Forum, in partnership with the INSEAD National Alumni Association in the UAE, is part of our efforts to bring together various stakeholders to foster a meaningful discussion on key issues shaping the region with the goal of unlocking new opportunities for a better future. The agenda of the Forum has been designed to ensure the event will discuss our most pressing challenges and identify solutions that could contribute to the growth of our economies and societies. The Forum offers an opportunity to benefit from the insights of a dynamic group of leaders and influencers on the key developments shaping the region’s sustained development. The event promises to generate a set of unique ideas and perspectives on opportunities and challenges the region will face in the years ahead.”

"Elias Aad, President of the INSEAD's National Alumni Association commented, "We are excited to host this event in collaboration with the Government of Dubai Media Office. An event of this nature allows the INSEAD Alumni to interact closely with leaders and visionaries of this region, thus giving us a better insight on how best to contribute to our community over the coming years and how leaders in the region can benefit from our global and local expertise and successes in various industries. We are grateful to GDMO for extending its partnership, which has enabled us to connect with great speakers and thought leaders from the government and private sectors in the UAE. We look forward to an exciting programme, eye-opening presentations and insightful panel discussions on 31 October, and we hope this event will be the first of many INSEAD NAA Leadership Summits to come."

The INSEAD NAA UAE Leadership Forum will take a deeper look at the economic and social shifts taking place regionally and globally and explore how countries in the Middle East can ride these waves of change to bring more prosperity to the region. A panel titled ‘Connecting to the Future - Embracing Change in the Business Landscape’ will explore UAE’s readiness for change at three levels – business enterprises, government, and civil society - and policy initiatives that can drive innovation in all spheres. The session will also shed light on the role of public-private partnerships in managing and benefiting from change.

A panel named ‘The Chosen Ones: Industries Transforming our Region’ will discuss the potential impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics on our future and ways in which next-generation technologies are revolutionising various economic sectors. The discussion will also touch on renewable energy trends in the UAE and the region.

The session will also share success stories of homegrown entrepreneurial ventures that have made a mark globally.

A session titled ‘Accelerating the Media Revolution’ will seek to identify how new media technologies are transforming the way we connect and share content both in the region and the world, and the ways in which governments can work with the private sector to accelerate the introduction of new media technologies.

A plenary session titled ‘Reshaping the Future Through Culture and Creativity’ will put the spotlight on Dubai’s new culture strategy. The session will also discuss the emirate’s potential to be a global hub for art and culture and examine the role of culture in creating an innovation-driven economy.

Also on the agenda is a fireside chat titled ‘The Better Half: Role of Women in Transforming the Region’, which will discuss at length the UAE’s track record in raising women’s empowerment and participation over the years and its initiatives to embed gender balance in diverse spheres of life.

Additionally, a session titled ‘Game Changers: How New Technologies Will Drive Growth’ will look at the evolution of economic growth drivers and the role that AI will play in a fast-changing business and consumer environment.
