HAMBURG- Jordan's state grain buyer has issued an international tender to purchase 120,000 tonnes of animal feed barley to be sourced from optional origins, European traders said on Thursday.

The tender deadline is Feb. 26, traders said.

Jordan on Wednesday bought 120,000 tonnes of barley, its first reported tender for the grain since early 2019.

In the past few months Jordan has struggled to buy grains in international tenders after changes to terms for quality specifications and payment reduced participation by international trading houses.

But recent tenders have been more successful, with a larger than usual nine trading houses submitting offers in Wednesday’s barley tender from the country.

The barley in the new tender is sought in a range of possible shipment combinations in 60,000 tonne consignments, they said.

Possible shipment periods are June 1-15, June 16-30, July 1-15 and July 16-31.

Jordan has also issued a separate tender for 120,000 tonnes of wheat closing on Feb. 25.
