CAIRO- Egypt has more than one million tonnes of sugar reserves, sufficient for over four months, an agriculture ministry official said on Tuesday.

Egypt is more than 80% self-sufficient in sugar after producing about 900,000 tonnes from sugar cane and 1.5 million tonnes from beet last season, said Mostafa Abdel Gawad, head of the ministry's Sugar Crops Council.
