Dubai-based logistics company Aramex has appointed Thomas Kipp as its new chief operating officer (COO).

Kipp was formerly executive vice president for corporate incubations, and replaces Othman Aljeda, who has been filling the role as acting COO at Aramex since May 2020.

In a statement to Dubai Financial Market, Aramex said the company had experienced a surge in e-commerce activities due to increased online shopping during COVID-19-related lockdowns.

It has ramped up ground operations through increased recruitment, as well as investing in its fleet, warehouses, and related infrastructure, the statement said.

Aramex has yet to file third quarter financial results for 2020, but its second quarter results showed a profit of AED 163 million ($44 million) for the first half of 2020, down from AED 233 million ($63 million) in 2019.
