The latest entertainment centre in Dubai - the Coca-Cola Arena - will open its doors to the public on June 6 with a live show by comedian Russell Peters and followed by a concert by Maroon 5 on June 14.

Members of the Press were given a first look on Tuesday (April 16) of the Coca-Cola Arena, which is the dubbed as the first fully-enclosed and climate-controlled arena of its size in the region that can accommodate up to 17,000 spectators.

"Coca-Cola Arena will play an important role in promoting Dubai's vision of putting the city on the world map of live music, sports, and entertainment," said Murat Ozgel, general manager of Coca-Cola Middle East and Deputy Business Unit President of Coca-Cola Middle East and North Africa.

Located at City Walk, Coca-Cola Arena is capable of hosting live shows all year round, including local events, sporting tournaments, e-gaming, comedy, theatre and musical performances, conferences, gala dinners, and weddings.

Guy Ngata, chief executive of the Coca-Cola Arena, said more events will be announced in the coming weeks. "Coca-Cola Arena can host everything from Arabic, Bollywood and international acts to live sports such as boxing and basketball," he said.

"The opportunity to redefine the entertainment landscape is exciting and one that AEG Ogden is proud to have been involved in since 2015. Coca-Cola Arena will be the newest world-class entertainment venue further affirming Dubai as a global event driven city in the ever-growing global live experiential economy," Ngata added.

Coca-Cola Arena has a total 3,870sqm of floor space and 86mX45m arena bowl floor. Depending on the event and audience capacity, the floor space can be scaled through a fully retractable seating system.

Coca-Cola Arena is owned by Meraas, a Dubai-based holding company, and day-to-day operations for the venue will be handled by AEG Ogden - the same management company that operates London's O2 Arena, Staples Centre in Los Angeles, Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai and Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney.

Previously called Dubai Arena, the name was recently changed after Meraas signed a 10-year agreement with The Coca-Cola Company for the exclusive naming rights of the multipurpose arena.

Use the Metro

Parking space around the Coca-Cola Arena is limited so visitors are encouraged to use public transport on major event days, according to Ngata. The nearest Dubai Metro station is around five minutes away and there is a plan to connect the arena via a direct pedestrian bridge with the Dubai Mall Metro Station.
