AMMAN — Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, HRH Prince Ghazi, Chief Adviser to His Majesty for Religious and Cultural Affairs and Personal Envoy of His Majesty, on Monday inaugurated the astronomical observatory on Umm Al Dami summit in Wadi Rum.

Prince Ghazi listened to a briefing by astronomer Imad Mujahed about the importance of the observatory, which is considered a new tourist attraction and blends into Wadi Rum’s landscape, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The observatory, established by the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, aims to monitor celestial bodies and various astronomical phenomena with the participation of tourists, university students and astronomy enthusiasts.
