Jordan's Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) welcomed a total of 804,153 passengers during the month of April, indicating a significant 10.6 per cent growth compared to the same month last year.

According to the official statistics released by Airport International Group, QAIA witnessed 6,717 aircraft movements (ACM) and handled 8,979 tons of cargo, marking a 6.1 per cent increase and a 5.8 per cent decrease, respectively.

Throughout the first four months of 2019, QAIA welcomed 2,728,570 passengers, registering a 7.4 per cent rise in year-to-date passenger figures, as opposed to the same period in 2018. Moreover, year-to-date ACM totaled 24,463, recording a notable 6.7 per cent surge, while year-to-date cargo stood at 31,587 tons, amounting to a 7.7 per cent drop.

“We are pleased to further build on the positive passenger results we achieved during Q1 2019. The increase was mainly driven by the Palm Sunday and Easter holidays, where people travelled back home to visit their families and others seized the opportunity to go on vacations. With summer well underway, we are very optimistic with regards to what the upcoming months will bring,” stated Airport International Group CEO, Kjeld Binger. - TradeArabia News Service
