More than 146,000 students from government schools have started attending online classes.

With the start of the second academic semester in 207 government schools, 146,510 students are taking their classes completely remotely as the administrative, educational and technical faculty have returned partially to the schools.

The Education Ministry implemented the necessary safety precautions in all the schools in a manner that guarantees the health and safety of everyone and limits the spread of Covid-19.

“The ministry continues to activate and strengthen distance learning, through digital content on the educational portal,” said a ministry statement yesterday.

“This includes hundreds of academic courses, tens of thousands of electronic educational activities and enrichments, and questions and answers from previous final exams.

“In addition, also being provided are televised classes on 14 YouTube channels, including a channel for students with special needs, as well as hotlines to support students, teachers and parents.”

The ministry has previously taken a number of organisational measures, such as preparing and uploading lessons through work teams consisting of specialists and teachers in an interactive framework, and activating many tools, including virtual laboratories.

Tens of thousands of discussion sessions, activities and lessons produced by schoolteachers have also been published keeping in mind the direct relationship between the teacher and students.

The GDN previously reported that physical attendance in all schools have been suspended until February 21 as efforts are stepped up to contain the spread of the pandemic.

All schools, private and public higher education institutes, nurseries and kindergartens, government rehabilitation centres as well as private training institutes will continue with distance learning.
