Sharjah, Ajman authorities step up safety inspections in schools

UAE - Intensified inspections have been launched by the authorities in Sharjah and Ajman to ensure safety of students on the school campus before regular classes gain momentum.

Apart from ensuring that anti-Covid measures have been put in place, the inspections check various other safety mechanisms in the school. These include taking stock of the installation of fire equipment, electricity connection and clearing the emergency exits. The teams also review the plans to prevent accidents that could cause injuries to students and the school staff.

The Sharjah Private Education Authority (Spea) has teamed up with the Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority to carry out these inspection campaigns to keep a tab on the adherence to the safety guidelines.

“We will continue the inspections throughout the academic year to provide healthy and safe environment to our students in government and privates schools in the emirate of Sharjah,” an Spea authority pointed out.

76 inspections in Ajman schools

The Ajman Civil Defence carried out inspections in 76 private and public schools in the emirate, said Brigadier Abdul Aziz Ali Al Shamsi, director-general of the general administration of civil defence in Ajman.

All the schools were found to be complying with the safety regulations to prevent fire or any potential accident on school’s campus. The schools were also found to be strictly implementing the Covid regulations to protect the students and staff from infection.
