ArabFinance: The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation decided to temporarily stop importing frozen poultry to preserve the local production, Deputy Minister of Agriculture for Livestock, Fisheries, and Poultry Mostafa el Sayyad announced in a September 1ststatement.

The recent poultry shipment of 2,000 tons, however, will be used for product manufacturing and re-exporting only, El Sayyad stated, stressing that it will not enter the Egyptian market.

Egypt’s poultry industry is stable with investments exceeding EGP 95 billion, the official said.

He noted that the poultry product manufacturing field creates about 4 million job opportunities.

The Agriculture Minister El Sayed el Quseir revealed last July that the industry’s investments reached about EGP 90 billion back then.

The OIE - World Organisation for Animal Health recently announced Egypt as a country free from avian influenza H5N1, commonly known as bird flu.
