ATHENS- Greece's central bank projects the country's economy will contract by 7.5% this year under a baseline scenario, more than a previous forecast for a 5.8% decline, its governor, Yannis Stournaras, said on Tuesday.

The Greek economy shrank at an annual 0.5% pace in the first quarter and by 15.2% in April-to-June.

Under an adverse scenario, the economy is still expected to contract by 9.4%, but this will depend on the course of the coronavirus pandemic, Stournaras said.
