Dubai, UAE – Carrefour, one of the largest hypermarket and supermarket chains in the world, is now part of DAMAC Hills, a premium residential community in the heart of Dubailand, announced DAMAC Properties. The opening of the Carrefour DAMAC Hills branch is among other milestones for the gated community, including the recent launch of the first recreational centre and the handover of homes to over 1,500 families.

Operated in the region by Majid Al Futtaim, known for reinventing the retail experience, Carrefour’s 67th supermarket in the UAE is located in the heart of the DAMAC Hills master community. The supermarket features a premium look-and-feel and offers Food 2 Go counters, as well as a variety of groceries at the same quality and value that Carrefour’s customers have grown accustomed to. The store also offers Carrefour Now, an online shopping experience with no minimum spend and free one-hour delivery.

“In a maturing international market like the UAE, consumers are highly aware and have particular tastes, expecting retailers to offer both convenience and a spectrum of product offerings,” said Niall McLoughlin, Senior Vice President at DAMAC Properties. “Which is why we’re delighted to welcome an esteemed retailer like Carrefour into the development, and are confident that our growing community will be keeping them busy restacking shelves.”

Commenting on the opening, Philippe Peguilhan, Country Manager of Carrefour UAE at

Majid Al Futtaim Retail said “At Majid Al Futtaim we continue to expand our Carrefour footprint in areas with strong demand for our offering, while maintaining the high standards that we have set for our brand. This location follows suit having been specifically designed to match the aesthetic of the local community, and we’re excited to be serving the residents of DAMAC Hills.”

The store joins increasing community members, including residents, Jebel Ali School and the Trump International Golf Club Dubai. Once completed, DAMAC Hills will comprise over 4,000 luxury villas, 7,500 apartments and serviced apartments, along with a golf course and nearly four million square feet of private green parkland. This summer, DAMAC signed a landmark agreement with Radisson Hotel Group to develop and launch the ‘Radisson Hotel, Dubai DAMAC Hills’, a 481-key hotel property set to open its doors by the end of 2019.
