Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the launch of its new service from the city of Peshawar to the Al Ain International Airport, the second largest airport in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, with two weekly flights.

The debut PIA flight landed at the Al Ain International Airport yesterday (February 22) at 10:35am and was given an official an honoury guard salute.

"Pakistan is one of the largest and most important destinations for us at Abu Dhabi airports," said Maarten de Groof, the chief commercial officer at Abu Dhabi Airports.

“This new addition further expands the network of Al Ain International Airport, providing our passengers with enhanced services and connectivity. We look forward to continuing to build new partnerships to meet the market’s growing demand,” stated De Groof.

"These new flights will carry passengers twice a week, improving the level of services and enhancing connectivity to meet the expectations of travellers," he added.

PIA's President and CEO Air Marshal Arshad Malik said the carrier is in process of transformation and is striving to provide best in class services to its patron customers.

"The service elements also include providing convenient connectivity to its passengers and direct flights to cities in Gulf and Saudi Arabia to all major destinations in Pakistan. Al Ain is a strong market and there was a persistent demand by the local Pakistani diaspora to start direct flights between Al Ain and Peshawar,” he noted.

“PIA is expanding its network and very soon new exciting destinations and additional frequencies on existing routes would be introduced further consolidating our network,” added Malik.-TradeArabia News Service
