KUWAIT CITY: The Maritime Transport Department at the Ministry of Communications resumed its operations in the building temporarily leased to them by Kuwait Ports Authority until the problem between them and the ministry is resolved in the upcoming meeting between the undersecretary and the director general of the Ports Corporation; as the latter disconnected electricity from the department’s premises on Sunday and demanded for immediate evacuation, as well as payment of KD 550,000 rent arrears, reports Al-Rai daily.

A delegation from the daily visited the administration, during which they were briefed on the workfl ow and they noticed as well the presence of more staff to complete transactions.

An official source confirmed that the administration handles more than 14,000 files for small ships; indicating it receives 80 to 100 references per day and this number usually increases during summer.
