AMMAN Jordan in March imported some 310,000 barrels of oil from Iraq, with a daily average of 10,000 barrels a day, Energy Minister Hala Zawati announced on Wednesday.

In a ministry statement shared with The Jordan Times, the minister said that the Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company, since it began receiving Iraqi oil on September 5, 2019, has received a total of 2.1 million barrels.

A total of 1,195 Jordanian and Iraqi tankers have transported the Iraqi oil under a memorandum of understanding between the two countries, which they signed in February 2019.

Zawati said that since the start of the coronavirus crisis, Iraqi tankers have been transferring their contents to Jordanian tankers at the border crossing.
