Elsewedy Electric, a leading wires and cables and integrated energy solution provider in the region, has announced that its subsidiary Egytech Cables has signed an new contract with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) to establish the new regional control centre for the transmission network for Delta Zone (DRCC) Lot 2.
 
The EPC contract, which is worth E£193 million ($12.2 million), will be implemented over a 18-month period.
 
Elsewedy Electric said its Transmission and Distribution unit had recently secured two tenders to be implemented on a fast track basis. It acquired the legal practices of overhead transmission lines (OHTL) and substation (S/S) with turnkey implementation of construction of 220 KV Double Circuit Toshka 2/Owinat East (in/out) connection to Toshka (4) substation.
 
Also recently its consortium with Japan's Toyota Tsusho had secured an EPC contract worth E£1.46 billion ($93 million) for upgradation of the electricity distribution network in North Cairo region.
 
Elsewedy Electric said these projects are aimed at upgrading the electricity infrastructure in Egypt as well as cutting the electricity loss, theft and enhancing the quality of network.
