Cairo – The Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, issued the law no .155 of 2020 for authorising the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to enter into agreement with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and Tharwa Petroleum Company, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported on Thursday.

The law stipulates that the petroleum minister is authorised to enter into agreement to amend the oil exploration agreement in East Abu Senan area in the Western Desert under law no. 131 of 2014.

In June, the petroleum ministry announced a new oil discovery in Abu Senan area. The discovery was made after Borg El-Arab Petroleum and Mineral Company drilled El Salmiya-5 well which started to produce 4,100 barrels of crude oil and 18 million cubic feet of gas per day.
