ABU DHABI- Abu Dhabi City Municipality has opened a new entrance to Khalifa City next to Al Raha Beach, at a length of 800 metres and costing AED11 million.
The project is part of the efforts of the Abu Dhabi City Municipality, ADM, and its desire to improve local infrastructure, including roads, bridges, tunnels, entrances and city exits to the capital and its suburbs, as well as to provide advanced services in residential areas, while keeping pace with the rapid national urban development and meet the needs of an increasing population.
The new entrance runs from the Abu Dhabi-Dubai Highway at Al Raha Beach to Khalifa City, through a 45-kilometre south-eastern coastal road and the sites of several infrastructure projects in Khalifa City.
In a statement, the ADM said that the new entrance would serve the Al Raha Gardens and Eastern Basin areas of Khalifa City, which will help ease the pressure on two preceding traffic entrances on the Abu Dhabi-Dubai Road. The entrance is also the second that will serve the road from Abu Dhabi Airport to Khalifa City.
The project began in June 2015 and completed on the same day as the beginning of the new Hijri year, which was celebrated recently. The entrance was opened to traffic on 21st September 2017.
The ADM added that the project is part of an infrastructure project on the Southeast Basin of 45 in the City of Khalifa, which includes the construction of a 22KV power conversion station.
The entrance, as well as others, are part of the ADMs plan to improve access and raise the level of traffic flowing through Khalifa City, where the residents of Al Raha Gardens and its Eastern Basins, next to Masdar City, can use this entrance from the Abu Dhabi-Dubai Road without having to pass through a large section of the city.
