The Ministry of Labour received about 7,450 requests for new recruitment, of which 5,551 were approved and 1,899 were rejected in the month of March, according to the ministry’s monthly bulletin.

The report says that about 3,583 requests were made to modify professions, of which 3,555 were approved and 28 were rejected. According to the bulletin issued by the ministry on Wednesday, about 1,057 work permit applications were submitted to the ministry in March, including 519 applications for permit renewal, 381 applications for a new permit, 156 applications for cancelling issued permits, and one request for replacement of lost ones.

In terms of inspection visits to labour recruitment offices, the report showed that the ministry carried out about 257 inspection visits to recruitment offices, with 228 visits in which no observations were recorded, and issued 23 warnings to remove a violation while six offices were banned.

In March, the Labour Inspection Department carried out intensive inspection campaigns to monitor the extent to which establishments comply with the laws and ministerial decisions regulating the labour market in the country, with a total number of 4,175 visits in various regions, and as a consequence, 114 violations were issued, and 759 warnings were given.

With regard to Labour complaints, the bulletin revealed that the Labour Relations Department received complaints from workers against the establishment with about 2,097 complaints, of which 521 complaints were settled, 234 were referred to the Labour Dispute Settlement Committees, and about 1,342 complaints remained under procedure, and the Labour Relations Department received 68 complaints from the public and all are settled.

According to the monthly bulletin regarding the Labour Dispute Settlement Committees, about 1,052 cases were referred to the dispute settlement committees during the past month, and decisions issued by the committees on 623 cases while 941 are still under procedure.
