Saudi Arabia’s LogiPoint announced on Monday that it has awarded the construction contract for a 68-million Saudi riyal ($18 million) multi-purpose warehousing complex, Warehouse Village V, in Jeddah Islamic Port to Sahara Building Contractors.
The company said in a statement that Warehousing Village V will be located in its 1,000,000 square metre (sqm) Bonded and Re-Export Zone (BRZ) at the Port.
It said construction will begin in August 2021 and the project will be ready for hand-over in July 2022.
The statement said the new facility will be built over an area of 24,500 sqm with dedicated zones for handling frozen, chilled, ambient and dry cargoes. Additionally, it will house a dedicated zone designed and equipped to handle pharmaceutical goods and a Value Addition Zone to provide value added services to clients.
Farooq Shaikh, CEO of LogiPoint said Village V marks the start of expansion plans that is expected to increase LogiPoint BRZ’s warehousing capacity by about 150 percent during the three years.
The statement said Warehousing Village V has been designed by Jamjoom Consulting and incorporates green building technologies.
