El Arabi International Hospital the first to enjoy this solution. Significant energy and cost savings estimated at around40% and 25% respectively
Cairo, 17 July 2013-'Wamd', an emerging Egyptian holding company operating in the field of technology consulting and contracting and energy waste management, announced today theconclusion of the design and orchestration of a fully integrated smart-building management solution for El Arabi International Hospital. This marks theapplication of the first fully integrated smart management solution to hospitals in Egypt. The company also announced introducing the first wireless access control system to hospitals in the MENA region, as well as the firstambulance integrated monitoring system, for both case monitoring and security surveillance. The integrated building management solution was designed to introducea holistic approach to technology in an effort to improve energy saving, reduce capital and operational expenses and enhance patient safety for El ArabiInternational Hospital. The state-of-the-art, end-to-end solution combines cutting-edge smart building technology with a world-class team of engineering and operations professionals to enable 24/7, real-time remote monitoring and seamless, efficient management and control of hospital facilities.
The integrated solution was brought forwardby 'T.H.E' and 'Eagle Eye', subsidiaries of Wamd Holding Group, operating in the fields of technology consulting and contracting and security systems. Integrationof all systems to a single platform was successfully orchestrated by T.H.E whileEagle Eye, moving beyond basic and classical security technologies, pioneered thewireless access control security system and integrated all different securitysystems into a single management platform, including intrusion detection, access control and video surveillance. In addition, the integrated solutionleverages leading-edge technology from world-renowned technology providers like Schneider and IR, whom Wamd is a licensed solution integrator for.
"We have built Wamd with the vision and dreamof putting Egypt, the Middle East and Africa on the forefront of technological adoption and advancement, which is reflected in the choice of the company's name- WAMDin Arabic meaning flashlight" said Haytham Aziz, Wamd's founder. "We believethe design of this hospital is a major milestone in bringing world-class technology and expertise to hospital management in Egypt" added Aziz.
Wamd's coordinated and enterprise-wide approach to technology installation allows El ArabiInternational Hospital to achieve unprecedented efficiency and productivitygains which clearly translate into a substantial reduction in capital procurement and resource optimization. Having only one network that links allcomponents together, like life-safety, security, business management andutilities systems reduces redundancies. For instance, the surveillance featuremonitoring the performance of building systems (from access control, gate automation to elevator control and paging systems), ensures that all systemsoperate at peak efficiency individually and in combination with one another. Forexample, if a fire is detected in any area of the hospital, access control, gates and elevator systems are automatically de-activated or activated tocontrol the spread of the fire and ensure patient safety.
In addition to theincreased efficiency and cost saving generated, Wamd's solution also allows ElArabi International Hospital to improve energy saving and waste management. Forexample, if security systems detect unoccupied rooms, the control system shutsdown the heating, cooling, ventilation and lighting in the empty rooms to saveon utility usage. According to Aziz, "energy savings are estimated at 40%; contributing to cost savings of around 25%. These savings ensure that the solution more thanpays for itself in a short time period". Aziz added that "contributing toenergy conservation and waste management is also a strategic priority for Wamd. It is essential for hospitals and entities in general to consider the application of energy saving measures, especially with the energy crisis thatis looming over Egypt".
Although Wamd hasonly existed since 2012, it has managed to quickly earn the reputation of beingone of Egypt's key players in the energy waste management field and one of the mosttrusted technology advisors and partners in the market. In addition to itsrecent launch in El Arabi International Hospital, Wamd has also operated andimplemented integrated smart solutions for P&G, The Armed Forces Hospitalin Egypt, Toshiba El Araby, Embassies, Ministries and Hoi where they built aremote monitoring system for mobile stations
