Doha, Qatar - May 24, 2012: United Development Company (UDC), one of Qatar's leading shareholding companies and master developer of The Pearl-Qatar, took home two accolades at the second Cityscape Qatar Awards held at the Four Seasons Doha Wednesday evening.

UDC won Best Mixed Use Project for its flagship development The Pearl-Qatar, as well as the Best Residential Project award in recognition of The Pearl-Qatar's position as the best residential and lifestyle destination in Qatar. The company also received honorable mention for the development of an Island considered by many to be one of the best sustainable developments.

The awards were accepted by Badr Al Meer Vice President Engineering and Construction and Abdulrahim Al Ibrahim Director TCAD, who said following his acceptance speech that the achievements were clearly in recognition of the innovative nature of The Pearl-Qatar and that the development could not have been possible without the vision and wise guidance of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifah Al Thani, Emir of Qatar.

"Qatar is a truly unique country where enterprise and innovation have been encouraged to flourish. UDC is proud to be able to contribute to the development of this great nation and winning awards such as these is a validation that we are on the right path," Al Ibrahim said.

Extending over an approximate area of four million square meters, The Pearl-Qatar is one of the largest real estate development projects in the Arabian Gulf.

The Cityscape Awards night highlights the three day conference and exhibition for real estate experts in Qatar. Held May 23 to May 25 at the Doha Exhibition Centre, the event focuses on the country's vibrant residential, commercial, retail, and hospitality developments.

With more than $100 billion in development already underway in Qatar, the event is backed by industry leaders and will support this continued real estate growth by providing a platform that will highlight high growth investment opportunities, showcase innovative products and underline sustainability in the sector.
