Dubai:  UL has received accreditation from the International Accreditation Service to meet the electricity and leading consultants’ technical specifications set by the Egyptian authorities for its Allentown laboratory in the U.S.

The accreditation means UL’s Allentown laboratory can now undertake testing of lighting products and retail performance testing adhering to the new environmental accreditation specified for the Egyptian market by the authorities and subsequently issue relevant test reports.

The state-of-the-art photometric and performance testing center in Allentown, Pennsylvania in the USA willallow UL to provide more responsive and efficient service for safety, performance and environmental testing solutions to customers across the globe.

The lab will conduct testing of lighting products to various global energy-efficiency programs to meet GCC region regulators, utilities, AHJ’s, consultants and contractors’ specifications.

The global safety science organization recognized the increased need for manufacturers to have a trusted partner to enter the Egyptian market in a safer and more sustainable way.

Hamid Syed, vice president and GM for UL in the Middle East, said: “Manufacturers who wish to establish and maintain their presence in Egypt are expected to meet certain technical specifications and undergo certain testing and certifications and we will now be able to help them with a comprehensive solution.

“With this new recognition, we are further expanding our testing and certification capacities by providing high-quality evaluations of LED product performance and will support to improve how we serve market demand.

“Egypt will now have easier and greater access to the latest authentic products meeting international standards and will help the local manufacturers thus boosting Egypt’s trade industry.”
