International experts debate a human capital theme
Dubai, 02 September 2004: Three best-selling business and management authors - Fons Trompenaars, Dr Jonas Ridderstrale, and Richard Hadden - have been confirmed as keynote speakers for the IHR Arabia conference, to be held in Dubai on October 9-10.
Trompenaars, the highly acclaimed author of Riding the Waves of Culture, works with global corporations to benefit from the vast opportunities presented by cultural differences.
An acclaimed author and advisor, he develops programmes for cross-cultural management that have empowered organisations throughout the business world. Trompenaars is the managing director of Trompenaars Hampden-Turner Intercultural Management Consulting (previously the Centre for International Business Studies; CIBS).
Ridderstrale, co-author of Funky Business and Karaoke Capitalism, focuses on new organisational models and leadership styles in the information age. He has recently been recognised as Sweden's outstanding young academic of the year.
Dr Ridderstrale is said to be at the forefront of the new generation of European-based business gurus. The 2001 Thinkers 50, the world's first ranking of management thinkers, ranked Ridderstrale and his partner Dr Kjell A Nordstrom at number 17 (one place below Nicholas Negroponte and one ahead of Stephen Covey).
Ridderstrale's research focuses on new organisational models and leadership styles in the information age and has been published in leading academic journals, magazines and newspapers.
As co-author of the best-selling book Contented Cows Give Better Milk, Hadden helps companies and organisations to be more profitable by creating a positive work atmosphere.
According to Hadden, the organisations consistently identified as winners in their chosen fields - whatever they are - have some of the best working environments. This occurs as a vital, premeditated element of business strategy.
Since starting his speaking career in 1989, Hadden has delivered more than 500 keynotes and seminars to more than 200 clients worldwide.
IHRArabia.com, to be held at the JW Marriott in Dubai on October 9-10, 2004, is expected to attract over 200 human resources professionals from around the region to debate the theme Maximising Human Capital.
HE Ahmed Al Tayer, UAE Minister of Communication and chairman of human resources development for the banking sector, has been confirmed as patron for the event.
Topics tabled for discussion at the conference include online learning, nationalisation, competency-based career progression, identifying potential leaders, creation of a learning organisation, and the difficulty of balancing family obligations with work.
