Mitsubishi's All-New Compact Crossover has Officially been Launched in the Sultanate by MMC Oman and Japan Representatives
Muscat 20st September 2010: The All-New 2011 Mitsubishi ASX Crossover has officially been launched in the Middle East by the Zubair Automotive Group and MMC Japan representatives at an exclusive press conference hosted at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
The new ASX (Active Sports Crossover) offers excellent drivability and handling with an elevated driver's position that along with the sloping hood design, gives a better view of the road for easier maneuvering and greater safety. This new car has all the features you would expect from Mitsubishi, but condensed into a more compact form. The ASX delivers superior interior comfort, with luxury features such as USB and audio jack, allowing you to connect your MP3 player or iPod, or Bluetooth hands free kit with voice activated dialer. The ASX also has additional environmentally friendly improvements not seen on any other SUV, such as its greater use of recycled materials, highly efficient and clean MiVEC engine and class leading aerodynamic styling.
The new car features plenty of interior room comfortably seating 5 adults whilst still providing a huge cargo space of 384 litres. The tailgate is wide enough to provide ample space for even the bulkiest items and the low floor height makes moving heavy cargo in and out far easier. The driving quality has been given a high priority, with its ergonomically designed cockpit, the easy to read liquid crystal multi information display, use of Mitsubishi's Innovative Valve-timing Electronic Control (MiVEC) engine and the smoothness of a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) gearbox. Powered by an already proven 2.0 -litre MiVEC engine that develops 150PS and combined with a 6 speed gearbox, this sporty car offers maximum torque of 197nM at 4200 rpm with a top speed of 190km/hour.
The ASX comes with a choice of either 2WD or 4WD, the latter coming with Mitsubishi's renowned electronically controlled 4WD system using one centrally located dial to switch between 3 driving modes - either the fuel efficient 2WD, 4WD AUTO or 4WD LOCK, therefore by simply moving one dial you can easily venture from the shopping malls out into Oman's rugged interior.
External features are highlighted with the distinctive Jet Fighter Grille first seen on the Evolution X, this, along with the super wide range discharged headlights creates a uniquely individual look, which perfectly demonstrates Mitsubishi's design identity. These headlamps are not only a specific design feature of the car, when activated they send out a broader, wider beam of light illuminating a much wider section of the road ahead thus enhancing nighttime visibility. In today's modern environment, car safety is of paramount importance and the new ASX has received the highest NCAP safety rating available in the world for collision-worthiness. The car also comes fully equipped with anti lock braking system (ABS), Active Stability Control (ASC), multiple air bags, front seat belt pre tensioners all as standard items. The 4WD model also comes with hill start assist (HSA) which prevents the vehicle from rolling backwards by automatically braking when starting on an incline.
The new Mitsubishi ASX comes in three specifications levels - GLX 2WD, GLX 4WD and GLS 4WD offering a choice to suit all budgets and requirements and the car also includes many features new to the Mitsubishi line-up such as engine keyless switch and UV treated panoramic glass roof with night time illumination. With a fresh and modern look, the new Mitsubishi ASX has become a global best-seller in other markets and has already been featured at many international motor shows.
