Abu Dhabi: The second edition of the “Quality of Life Questionnaire – Abu Dhabi 2019”, launched by the Department of Community Development (DCD) attracted more than 71,262 respondents in 2019, Over 31,680 nationals and 39,582 residents in Abu Dhabi took part in the questionnaire, an increase of 55% versus 2018.
The questionnaire, covering all regions of Abu Dhabi, surveys key indicators including: Housing, Income, Job & Earnings, Work-life Balance, Health, Education, Personal Safety and Security, Social connection, Civic Engagement and Governance, Environmental Quality, Subjective Wellbeing, Social and Culture values, Social and Community Services, and Access to Information.
The questionnaire measures key indicators for the social services sector in Abu Dhabi, to monitor and enhance quality of life, review key social issues relevant to policy makers, explore differences in social and economic well-being among members of society, and measure people’s awareness of various social issues and understanding of society’s needs in terms of social services.
Encouraging all residents of Abu Dhabi to complete the questionnaire, (via: http://bit.ly/2KOD1ap), DCD emphasized that respondents will support the department's objectives in matters of community interest and will highlight areas for improvement across people’s lives. The questionnaire creates accurate information and statistics, to help build a prosperous society, and act as a reference point for decision-makers by painting a picture of everyday life across various sectors in Abu Dhabi.
The questionnaire a major survey in Abu Dhabi, as it aims to assess quality of life and well-being. It also identifies challenges facing society and helps develop successful and sustainable solutions to improve government systems, using clear and well-devised scientific frameworks.
The questionnaire was circulated widely in Abu Dhabi, to people aged 15 years and above in six languages, including Arabic and English. Artificial Intelligence tools are being used to analyze questionnaire comments so that researchers can identify the community’s top priorities.
H.E. Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of DCD, said: “The remarkable response rate to the Quality of Life Survey 2019 reflects growing awareness of social and service issues across Abu Dhabi. What’s more, it highlights the community's interest in improving quality of life in this tolerant and peaceful society. These efforts are aligned to the objectives of the Government Accelerators Program - ‘Ghadan 21’ – which aims to consolidate Abu Dhabi’s social and developmental initiatives to provide decent lives for all society members.”
Al Khaili added: “In its effort to provide a decent life for all members of society, DCD values questionnaires such as this, which deal with issues in people’s lives and across society. The results are compared with data from other countries which consider quality of life the cornerstone of growth and development, these include the US, Britain, Finland, Norway, France and Italy. These comparisons identify best practices and experiences in important social areas and enhance the UAE's leadership position on global competitiveness indicators.”
The results of the “Quality of Life Questionnaire – Abu Dhabi 2019” support DCD's efforts to develop and protect society by combining modern lifestyle with social values and culture, as well as achieving harmony and coordination between society and all employment sectors. The results will support quality of life, which in turn will promote the advancement society in all respects.
