New zones, new attractions, the 30,000 sq mts wide Modhesh Fun City at Airport Expo offers a whole new world of entertainment under one roof.
Major venue for DSS 10th year celebrations
All roads lead to Dubai Airport Expo today (Thurs) as Modhesh Fun City, the biggest indoor fun destination in Dubai opens its doors to the public unveiling a world of Modhesh fantasy amidst a gigantic city within a city. This impressive venue with its new zones and attractions is geared up to welcome thousands of DSS visitors of all age groups who will be left asking for more as the 30,000 sq mts facility offers a whole new world of entertainment under one roof.
With ample free parking space this largest of its kind Fun City in the region begins at 10am and plays host to a grand 10th year celebration this evening at 7.30pm to officially open Dubai Summer Surprises 2007, the summer fiesta offering entertainment, shopping and winning opportunities. Based on the theme of Fantasy of Modhesh, the all-time favourite DSS mascot, this colourful home of Modhesh is decorated predominantly in blue, green and yellow. Welcoming the guests at every step is the main host Modhesh in various shapes and sizes. In fact, guest welcome begins right from the bridge entrance on the main road towards Airport Expo where Modhesh ushers the motorists in with a Modhesh Fun City banner.
Running throughout the Dubai Summer Surprises from June 21 to August 31, the Modhesh Fun City is open to public from 10am to 10pm on weekdays and 10am to 11pm on Thursdays and Saturdays and 3pm to 11pm on Fridays. The entry tickets are priced at Dh 20 for kids, which also include some free rides and Dh 10 for adults.

We have made sure that there is a good mix of activities offered to kids at the Fun City. Truly a dream destination the Modhesh Fun City with its vibrant theme is the place to be this summer. As for the kids what can be better than spending their vacation in the cool confines of a themed fun area where they can just be. Divided into over 20 different zones, the Fun City caters to a wide spectrum of interests. It offers a number of new zones this year such as the Ice Arena, Story Teller Zone, Library and Pet Zone besides the regular ones from the past. The main sponsors of this unique fun destination are Dubai Refreshment Company - Mirinda and Aqua Fina, Etisalat, Dubai World Trade Centre and Emirates airline.
Spread over three halls of the sprawling Airport Expo, the Fun City occupies the Central Hall, East Hall and West hall. The ticketing counters are present in the Reception Hall created right at the entrance of the Fun City which also leads to the Modhesh Friends Club, the exclusive summer club for children is located in this hall.
The entrance to the Central Hall houses a well stocked library for children, major attraction for those interested in books. Equipped with fancy child friendly furniture the library is stocked with books for toddlers to teens. Just across the library is the Nursery for the little ones. Well-trained staff present in the facility at all times ensure safety and well-being of the wards who can play, rest and make friends while their parents and older siblings browse through the rest of the Fun City.
Toddlers Zone, Tech Zone, Balloon Art Zone, Arts and Crafts Zone, Fun fair areas, Humtaro and Fulla play houses are housed in the Central Hall. The main Modhesh merchandise store is also located in the Central Hall right in the heart of the Fun City. It also has two branches one each in the East and the West Halls. Besides a Mini Stage for smaller shows has also been created in the Central Hall.
The East Hall of the Fun City boasts the Main Stage which is the hub of major events to be held at the Fun City throughout this season. Besides it also features the Family Court with a Modhesh Restaurant, Inflatable Zone, Sand Zone, Ice Arena, Story Teller Zone, Snack Kiosk, Sports Zone, Fun Fair and an information booth. The Ice Arena has a small skating rink and ice field for the visitors.
The West Hall which hosts the Pet Zone and Animal Zone also has Redemption Zone, Family Court and yet another Modhesh Restaurant, RTA Zone, Animal Zone, Think and Play Zone, Snack Kiosk, Youla, Heritage Zone, Fun Fair for Kids and an Information booth.
Apart from the various zones the Fun City has a well-equipped First Aid centre and a Media Centre. The latter handles PR and media queries and links Modhesh Fun City with the DSS Media Centre. It will also attend to the visiting local and international press and conduct MFC press releases.
Then of course, there are snack kiosks scattered throughout the Fun City for visitors to grab a quick bite on the go. In a nutshell Modhesh Fun City is a complete destination offering quality family fun where everyone is welcome to taste the warm Modhesh hospitality.

Dubai Summer Surprises as a venture has contributed significantly to the economy of Dubai and continues to do so by enhancing different economic sectors during a lean period of economic activity in summer. An increase in visitor expenditure from AED 850 million in 1998 to AED 2.57 billion in 2006 is a clear indication of the event's ability to drive economic growth during summer. Into its tenth year, Dubai Summer Surprises has come a long way by building on the successes of the previous editions and aims to create a benchmark for future years to provide the three most important characteristics of the event - shopping, winning, and entertainment.
