Egypt debuts as official partner and Guest of Honour

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Egypt has reported another successful participation at the world's leading travel trade show, ITB Berlin, encouraged by strengthened relations with other B2B participants and tourism industry leaders.  This year's trade show was particularly important for Egypt, showcasing as the official partner and Guest of Honour at the show.  Egypt is the first Arab country to be hosted as a Country Partner since its launch in 1966.

The Starwood group, which manages ten properties under the "Sheraton" and "Le Meridien" brands in Egypt, participates every year at ITB Berlin.  The five-day event witnessed over 10644 exhibitors from different sectors from over than 187 countries around the world.

"ITB Berlin is an excellent opportunity to meet business partners and to do business," says Hassan Ahdab, Vice President, Regional Director Africa & Indian Ocean for Starwood Hotels & Resorts.   "Starwood has a strong presence of operations in Cairo, with hotels and resorts in Alexandria, Luxor, Red Sea, Sharm El Sheikh and Dahab. International trade and tourism opportunities for the countries in which we operate are paramount for Starwood and our regular presence and participation at this show and others around the world fully support this strategy."

Starwood Global Executives, GM's & DOSM's  of Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Egypt were keen to actively cover the whole fair by attending workshops, seminars, and press conferences, networking constructively with the tourism decision-makers, strategists, tour operators, prominent figures and the public figures visiting the event.

All participants endeavoured to present a positive image, providing support to the Egyptian tourism industry through the promotion of their diverse touristic portfolio.  A culture that goes back thousands of years, combining both modernity and tradition make Egypt as one of the world's most beautiful travel destinations all year round.

ITB Berlin creates an opportunity to showcase all stakeholders within the travel and tourism industry: Destinations, tour operators, booking systems, carriers, hotels and all other suppliers who wish to delight their customers during this occasion.  The event also featured back office technology, hotel software and reservation machines as well as social media, travel portal and mobile travel solutions.
