New services enhance traditional continuity services with global connectivity, data hosting, data storage, physical and logical security

HOUSTON - SchlumbergerSema, a business segment of global technology services company Schlumberger (NYSE: SLB), today announced the addition of DeXa.Ensure to the DeXa Suite of Services, a set of comprehensive information technology (IT) infrastructure offerings. The company also announced it has more than tripled its business continuity facilities, from 40,000 to 136,000 square feet, at business continuity sites in New Jersey.

DeXa.Ensure is the next-generation product offering of the SchlumbergerSema business continuity services, formerly known as SchlumbergerSema Global Recovery Solutions (SGRS). This new solution not only provides on-site facilities for business continuity and replication, but also allows customers to integrate networking, storage and security with their business-critical information systems and physical facilities.

"In an era of increased security concerns, there is a growing need to tightly integrate business continuity with other strategic technologies using a single provider for global networking, information security and computing infrastructure support," said John Kersley, vice president, Business Continuity Services. "Our DeXa.Ensure customers can now access a much broader range of IT infrastructure solutions. By integrating business continuity into the DeXa Suite, customers can benefit from a high level of resiliency and security across their complete IT infrastructure."

"Enterprises are asking fundamental questions about their sourcing strategies for Business Continuity services and are looking for a broader range of services, as well as the traditional 'hot site' services," said Simon Mingay, industry analyst, Gartner, Inc.

Combining business continuity with the DeXa Suite of Services expands customers' options. The DeXa Suite of Services includes DeXa.Net for network connectivity; DeXa.Badge for access management and information security; DeXa.Touch and DeXa.Host for Help Desk distributed and centralized computing infrastructure, and now DeXa.Ensure for business continuity.

For example, enterprises can now be securely networked to business continuity sites anywhere in the world using the DeXa.Net global connectivity solution. An organization may want to outsource its IT operations through the DeXa.Touch offering from SchlumbergerSema, and include business continuity. Additionally, SchlumbergerSema consultants can apply advanced contingency planning techniques to critical information in a DeXa.Host managed storage or application operation solution.

SchlumbergerSema has a 20-year history in providing business continuity solutions to over 900 customers around the world. DeXa.Ensure services are available from more than 45 dedicated business continuity sites in 17 countries, with over 1.75 million square feet of space. Business continuity provides companies various options to replicate their business at a facility a safe distance away from the site of an unforeseen emergency or disaster rendering their original location inoperable. The replication allows for minimum business disruption so the company can function again at full capacity within a short time, sustaining minimum loss in productivity and customer support.

DeXa.Ensure provides a full range of low-risk, cost-effective services that are customized to meet individual customer needs - from replicate office facilities (including real-time market trading positions) to full backup and mirrored data centers.
