1 Gbps speeds to result in more bandwidth, faster data uploads and better overall user experience for home customers

Dubai, UAE, 8 September 2014: As part of its continuous efforts to offer an enhanced user experience, du announced successful lab-testing of 1 Gbps speeds to its residential customers. This is yet another first-of-its-kind initiative in the region that strengthens and demonstrates du's network capabilities. As a result of this successful testing in lab, upon implementation, du's residential customers will benefit from better overall user experience due to faster data downloads/uploads and increased bandwidth. Customers can also get the added convenience of accessing in-house automated services from any location.

This network capability upgrade follows on the heels of du's other recent announcements on the network front. du recently announced first-in-the-region VoLTE technology that will allow customers to talk and browse the Internet simultaneously at blazingly-fast 4G LTE speeds.  du also recently successfully conducted field test for LTE-A Carrier Aggregation between the 800MHz band and the 1800MHz band, a new mobile broadband technology that is aimed at providing greater speed and reliability to mobile subscribers across the UAE. This builds on du's achievement earlier this year that compared to its LTE footprint in 2012, the company more than doubled its LTE footprint in the UAE in 2014 and is yet another step in du's continuous efforts to offer best-in-class network technology to its customers.

It is also noteworthy to mention that du received a tremendous response on HD Voice from customers - a service that du launched in 2012. du's HD Voice service traffic has grown 200% growth in the last six months - and is the only operator to offer the service at no extra cost! Today, du offers HD voice on both its 3G mobile and fixed line networks. du's 4G LTE network now also offers HD Voice over LTE thanks to VoLTE technology. According to the Global Mobile Suppliers Association, du is the only mobile network to deploy HD Voice on 3G voice.
