Dubai: “In love for Mohammed bin Rashid”, the Rashid Summer Camp 2019 has ended successfully after extending its edutainment activities until August 28. Over 100 students of all ages participated in the annual camp at the Hobbies Club in Dubai.
The decision to extend the Camp’s activities was aimed at ensuring that students who had missed the initial intake, were granted the opportunity to participate in the full programme.
This year's edition of the Camp was held under the sponsorship of DP World, UAE Region, Dubai Investments, Al Baddad International and SAHARA Communications, in association with the Roads and Transport Authority – Dubai, Dubai Municipality, Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment and the Dubai Statistics Center.
Marking the auspicious occasion of Eid Al Adha, Mr. Arif Bin Ali Alabbar, Chairman of the Hobbies Club, extended his sincere congratulations by wishing continued good health and wellbeing for His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, Deputy Rulers, and Crown Princes.
Alabbar said, “We decided to extend the camp this year to help those students who did not attend the first period and gave them a chance to make full use of the camp’s exciting and useful edutainment activities, which will reflect positively on their mental and physical wellbeing.”
“The extension was also in response to the desire to make further use of the camp’s rich and multifarious activities after the Eid holiday,” he added.
Alabbar noted that the highly positive response of the participants to the camp’s activities reflects the resounding success made by this year’s edition whose objectives “go in unison with the directives of the country’s visionary leadership to instil the love of the nation in the youth and to build up an educated and sound personality.”
Mohammed Al Muallem, CEO and Managing Director, DP World, UAE Region, said, “The Rashid Summer Camp performs an amazing job as a socially responsible initiative to help mould the future generation as community leaders and team players. Instilling social and life skills is an important part of growing up for young Emiratis, and we are proud to support the Hobbies Club for successfully organising the Camp over the years. As part of DP World’s Our World, Our Future programme, we are determined about continuing our efforts by working in both a sustainable and responsible way to support our youth and women, as well as orphans, the elderly and people of determination, to help build a better future for Emirati society.”
The Rashid Summer Camp 2019 featured cultural activities, including Holy Quran memorisation; computer and internet training, as well as public morality and ethical standard classes. The camp also encouraged sports activities such as horse riding, shooting, swimming and martial arts.
The broad range of activities extended to students embarking on scientific and recreational field trips, video game competitions and entertainment (Bicycle / Table Tennis / Baby Foot), football and volleyball.
The annual camp aims to encourage the youth to use their leisure time productively, especially during holidays, seeking to ensure social interaction and familiarity among camp participants in a way that contributes to forging new friendships and strengthening social relationships.
The programme is designed to teach key physical skills and breaking fear factors and barriers through horse riding, shooting (under safe adult supervision), falconry; and etiquette for hospitality and services.
Overall, Rashid Summer Camp and all of its activities reinforce customs and traditions which many lack today, primarily those relating to hospitality and etiquette for services. By contributing to developing positive personal traits, these changes in life instil positive manners and habits for the future.
In addition, the camp’s activities assist participants in gaining newfound knowledge through the accompanying cultural programmes.
