Mott MacDonald, the leading global management, engineering and development consultancy, has appointed Dr Majdi Ismail as its country manager for Bahrain. Dr Majdi moves from his previous role as the consultancy's business development director for its Middle East operations based in Dubai and back to the Kingdom where he previously worked for four years from 2006-2010.

Dr Majdi has a PhD in civil engineering and over 20 years experience in the engineering sector in both the UK and the Gulf. He has worked on a range of major projects in sectors such as mixed-use residential and leisure developments, transportation, water and power, as well as rail pollution prevention programmes and industrial development and manufacturing.

Mott MacDonald has operated in Bahrain for more than two decades providing design and management services in various sectors. Currently, the consultancy is supervising construction of the Dilmunia Health Island, a first of its kind international health and wellness facility in a resort-style environment. Mott MacDonald also acted as technical advisor for the Al Dur Independent Water and Power Project, which was introduced last year to accommodate increasing demand for both water and electricity in the Kingdom. The company is now supervising construction on the mega project as well as designing and supervising construction of the largest water transmission development project in the country.

Commenting on his appointment, Dr Majdi said: "Despite the economic challenges around the globe and its effect on the Middle East region, Mott MacDonald continues to support Bahrain's public and private sectors and we are keen to play a major part in delivering many of the developments planned for the Kingdom's future."
