MANAMA, KINGDOM OF BAHRAIN, 17 AUGUST 2011 - The Arab Cable Manufacturers Association today announced Bahrain-based Midal Cable and Saudi Cable as Gold Sponsors of the Seventh Annual ArabCab Conference set to take place between the 25th and 28th of September 2011 in Granada, Spain.

The conference, which is being held for the first time outside the Arab world, focuses on bringing together leading Arab cable manufactures with their international peers, customers and partners. This year's Conference will look at "Renewable Energy and Its Relation to the Cable & Wire World," a topic that will be tackled by industry players and experts in the field of alternative energy.

Spain has been selected as the venue for the Conference for reasons including its long historical relationship with the Arab culture and markets as well as its position among the leading centres for the development and use of alternative energy sources. As part of the Conference activities, participating delegates will also have the chance to visit the world's largest alternative energy power production facility, the Andasol Solar Power Station, located in Ishbiliya, Spain. Nexans, a Paris-based leading global cable manufacturer, with a presence in 40 countries and activities worldwide, is also a Gold Sponsor of the event.

The three day conference will focus on examining and building awareness of alternative energy solutions and opportunities for investing in alternative energy sources with a focus on the cable industry both in the Arab world and beyond.

Speakers at the conference will include Mr. Hamid Al Zayani, President of ArabCab, and a number of industry leaders and experts from the Arab world and internationally, a schedule of which will soon be announced.

Other confirmed attendees at the conference are some of the Middle East region's most active financial institutions including leaders in large-scale industrial, energy and other investments. Among these are Gulf Investment Corporation (GIC), which is owned by the six governments of the GCC, Kuwait Finance House-Bahrain, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kuwait Finance House, Kuwait, one of the world's largest Islamic financial institutions, Baytic Industrial, a Bahrain based industrial investment company, and NOGA, the Kingdom of Bahrain's National Oil and Gas Authority.

The Arab Cable Manufacturers Association, which is organising the conference, was established in the year 2004 and is associated with the Arab Federation for Engineering Industries. It has members of more than 65 Arab companies specialized in the manufacturing of cables.

Previous conferences were attended by more than 150 participants and held in countries including the Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain, Marrakesh, Morocco, Aqaba, Jordan, Dubai, UAE, Alexandria, Egypt and Beirut, Lebanon.
