26th January, Dubai, UAE: McCollins Media, a full service communications agency, has been invited by Middlesex University to host a Social Media Workshop. McCollins Media introduced their Social Media department to cater to the rising popularity, demand and need of connecting clients on the social network. The workshop is set to commence from 30th January and will conclude with a project on social media on 10th February 2011.

At the moment, the course is being offered to the second year students of the Bachelors of Advertising, Public Relations and Media (Honours). Social Media has seen a meteoric rise in the last few years with brands reaching out to their target audiences on websites such as Twitter, Facebook, etc. Social Media has allowed brands to have quicker access and reaction time to any consumer queries/requests or complaints.

Meghna Kothari - Director, McCollins Media, "With Social Media getting such prominence it's become important to have a tutorial on this vast subject. While people roughly get what social media is about, for those aspiring to be a part of this industry directly, it is imperative to understand the various aspects of 'Social Media'. With this workshop, we aim to take the first steps in realizing the importance of social media and its role in building brands."

The workshop will be conducted by Meghna Kothari, Director, McCollins Media and Mani Karthik, Director - Online Marketing & Social Media, McCollins Media. It aims at offering a certified induction into the subject of Social Media and will cover the following topics -

  • Project on Social Media
