Courtyard by Marriott World Trade Center, Abu Dhabi welcomes Matthias Widor as its new General Manager.
Matthias brings in over 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry and his education makes a notable impression. He is an International Baccalaureate at the German School in London followed by a graduation in International Hotel Management from the Hotel Academy Modul in Vienna, Austria in 2000. More recently, Matthias has continued his self-development by achieving a Masters Certificate in Hotel Management in 2014 from the world famous Cornell University.
Commencing his Marriott career in 2000 in Munich, he transferred in 2004 to the Frankfurt Marriott Hotel as Catering Service Manager. A short stretch as Food & Beverage Manager in Stuttgart, Germany was followed by a move to Asia in 2007. Mapped with several successful Director of Food & Beverage assignments at the New World Hotel Saigon, the Renaissance Phuket, the Marriott Hotel Manila and then lastly in 2012 at the JW Marriott Seoul. In 2015, Matthias relocated to the UAE to work at the JW Marriott Dubai as Director of Operations.
Matthias’s contribution over the years have been recognized not only by excellent balanced scorecard results but also through a number of awards – such as Event Team of the Year in Frankfurt, Restaurant Service Quality Excellence and Hotel of the Year in Manila and most recently Time Out’s “Steakhouse of the Year” in Dubai. He was also a member of the Marriott Asia Operational Advisory Board until his move in 2015 to the Middle East and Africa region.
