157-room property scheduled to open in 2004
Dubai - 25 January 2004 - Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) will manage a new 157-room hotel in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, in 2004 under an agreement with Desarrollos Inmobiliarios, S.A. de C.V., a subsidiary of Banco del Pais.
When opened, the Tegucigalpa Marriott will be located on Boulevard Juan Pablo II, adjacent to the Presidential Palace.
“We are delighted by the expansion of our lodging portfolio in the Caribbean and Latin America,” said Ed Fuller, president and managing director of international lodging for Marriott. “We currently have 36 hotels in the region with another six hotels scheduled to open by 2005. The Tegucigalpa Marriott will be an important addition as we grow our presence in Central America.”
For dining and recreation, the Tegucigalpa Marriott will have a casual restaurant and lobby lounge and bar. Recreational amenities will include an outdoor swimming pool, an exercise room and fitness center featuring male and female massage rooms, sauna, steam rooms and changing rooms. Other amenities will include a business center, retail shops, and two floors of executive-level guest rooms and a lounge, as well as in-room coffee service, safes capable of accommodating a laptop computer, two-line telephones with data port, voice mail and high-speed internet access.
For social events and conferences, the hotel will offer 1,127 square meters of space, including a 617-square-meter ballroom and additional meeting rooms totaling 510 square meters of space.
