DOHA, 21 June 2015: Maersk Oil Qatar (MOQ), the country's largest offshore oil producer, has seen an influx of employment and internship applicants during the latest phase of its Find Your Place recruitment drive. The campaign forms part of the company's award-winning Qatarization Strategy, which aims to increase the number of Qataris in leadership, specialist and offshore positions.
The Find Your Place recruitment campaign featured three talented Qataris - Mohammed Al-Marri, Moza Yousef Al-Naimi and Khalid Jassim - who've progressed their careers at MOQ with the support of one-to-one coaching, mentoring and fast-track development for high achievers.
Maersk Oil Qatar has also been working closely with the Supreme Education Council (SEC), Qatar University (QU) and campuses at Hamad bin Khalifa Universities (HBKU) to encourage more internship opportunities. The Future Leaders Internship Competition has just closed and attracted more than ninety applicants from high school and university students.
Lewis Affleck, Managing Director of MOQ, said: "We've developed unrivalled expertise and technical understanding of Qatar's challenging Al Shaheen offshore field, and Qataris have played a key role in that. I'm delighted that we're seeing more Qataris applying to join us, more Qataris taking leadership and senior specialist roles as well as more young people applying for internships. As part of the Maersk Group, with five separate business units already active in Qatar and operations in more than 130 countries worldwide, I believe there is no better international company for talented Qataris to join."
Maersk Oil Qatar are focused on quadrupling the number of Qataris in leadership and senior specialist positions by 2017 as part of its Qatarization Strategy, that is supported by a series of development programmes and workplace support.
The company's Qatarization efforts were recognised last month with an award for "Overall best support to Qatarization" at the annual Qatarization Review Meeting held last month.
Sheikh Jassim bin Saud Al-Thani, Maersk Oil Qatar's Head of Qatarization, said "The success of our Qatarization Strategy - in attracting, retaining and developing more Qataris - illustrates that Qatarization is a key business priority for Maersk Oil Qatar. We have an experienced and driven team that have quite rightly earned a reputation as specialists in the Al Shaheen offshore field - talented Qataris will be just as important to us in the future as they have been in the past."

About Maersk Oil Qatar
In partnership with Qatar Petroleum, Maersk Oil Qatar operates one of the world's most complex offshore fields, Al Shaheen. It produces around one-third of Qatar's oil. Turning marginal and challenging fields into successes has been the cornerstone of Maersk Oil's growth since it began in 1962. This is particularly true in Qatar, where Maersk Oil took over the Al Shaheen field in the early 1990s at a time when others walked away. Maersk Oil has now recovered in excess of one billion barrels of oil from the field, which currently produces around 300,000 barrels of oil per day. Success has come from Maersk Oil's experience, expertise and close relationships.
