Kuwait Finance House (KFH) has taken the initiative to morally and financially support seven promising scientific projects during the first quarter of this year, made by the students of College of Engineering and Petroleum as their graduation project. It is worth noting that KFH has been keen to take such steps, which are part of its strategy that aims to support development projects. KFH that has been sponsoring the annual engineering design expo of college students, hopes that those projects will be further developed in the future and will be patented This will serve Kuwait in its attempts to achieve sustainable development; especially that scientific initiatives measure the development of nations.
KFH believes that although the students must make those projects to graduate, the projects embody the academic skills and information that those students had been receiving throughout their studies. KFH has sponsored the following innovative projects:
Engineer Shouq Al-Omair demonstrated her project "Rio de Marina" that she had executed with her team. She explained that the project is a mall among the water, such as Venice. However, it will not be an island like Venice, and the team suggested setting up this project at Al-Messila beach. She added that the project includes a small hotel called 'Boutique', restaurants, and canoes used in moving from one place to the other. The project will rely on solar and water as sources of energy. Al-Omair and her team applauded KFH for supporting this project.
Engineers Aisha Al-Hajji and Noura Al-Beijan said that their project "Kuwait Mall" is unique, where it is commercial and cultural at the same time. The project consists of an area for children that has shops, and places for entertainment and education; in addition to an area for youths, where there are cafes and restaurants. They added that there is an area that resembles ancient Kuwait, especially Al-Mubarkiya area. There is also an area that represents modern Kuwait, which includes theaters, conference and graduation halls, and a library.
Engineer Saleh Al-Haddad mentioned that his project "The Boom Mall" consists of a mall that will be built in the shape of the traditional Kuwaiti ship in the middle of the sea. The mall will include theaters, game area, restaurants, and cafes. He noted that this project will raise awareness about the Kuwaiti traditional fishing ship.
Engineer Shahd Al-Awadi stated that her project "The Globe" takes its name from Shakespeare's theater in Britain. She added that her project consists of three theaters, a hotel, and restaurants.
In addition to those projects, KFH has supported Mascan Report, La Costa Marina, and The Pavilion projects.
The students lauded KFH for its efforts in supporting them to complete their projects. They added that this support has paved the way for the possibility of adopting those projects in the future.
