Kent College and Mir Hashem Khoory LLC (MHK) have signed a partnership agreement to open a campus in September 2016 at Meydan Dubai. Kent College Dubai will be run in partnership with Kent College Canterbury and is a second campus of the original school. Kent College Canterbury was founded in 1885 and has been classed as excellent in every aspect.
We are delighted to share some direct quotes with you:
● Kent College is very successful in meeting its aims. The pupils' achievements and learning are excellent.
● Pupils achieve excellent results.
● Pupils are recognised as individuals and all staff take pride in encouraging and supporting each to achieve his or her best.
Kent College Canterbury was selected as an exceptional co-educational institution offering day and boarding facilities to children aged between three and eighteen. The school is well known for its academic and co-curricular activities, and has a reputation for excellence. There will be many similarities between the 2 campuses and the vision is to offer the same quality of provision in Dubai that students receive in the UK.
Carmella Jodrell, Head of the Junior School in Dubai said, "Kent College is a school that is extremely proud of its achievements and reputation. The decision to open a campus in Dubai came from a desire to expand into the global and international academic field; to share the excellence that it has worked very hard to refine and maintain. Dubai is of the same mind-set; that it wishes for all schools within Dubai education to be outstanding and world leading. The partnership, therefore, seemed simply to be a perfect pairing."
Kent College Dubai will deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, which leads into the English National Curriculum for Key Stages 1, 2 and 3. This is followed by iGCSEs in Years 10 and 11 and then options to complete either A-levels or the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Kent College Dubai will ensure that statutory requirements, including Arabic and Islamic studies, are maintained at the same standards. In addition to the curriculum provision, Kent College Dubai will offer a very broad and challenging range of after school activities to support creative, sporting, academic, musical and dramatic interests.
The campus will be managed by Kent College Canterbury and will spread over 400,000 square ft. and will offer an excellent British education to over 2,000 students from the UAE, GCC and all over the world. Kent College has the benefit of 130 years of experience in educating young people and prides itself on being a caring, family community and a school which can positively strengthen the community which it serves. There is a very strong focus on the development of character and the nurturing of human values across the learning community. Students will be encouraged to contribute to school development and progress, and know that with the right attitude and support, they can grow their own intelligence.
The build, costing an estimated GBP 27 million, is ahead of schedule and is expected to be completed in early 2016. Registration of students will commence in January 2016 for all years with the exception of Year 11 and Year 13.
