The advantages of social network media have been highly publicised in the press as of late, prophesised as the communication tool of the future for businesses to relate to their clients, and to even humanise brands. Its reach seems inescapable, and has seen the addition of many brand names in all manner of industries, as well as celebrity endorsements.
Since the start of 2009, InterContinental and Crowne Plaza Dubai Festival City have taken advantage of two such media, Twitter and Facebook, as voices to inform their followers of hotel and restaurant promotions, with marked success. Both InterContinental and Crowne Plaza have Twitter accounts, each with over 1,500 followers, and a Facebook Fan Page for each outlet. These budding communities are invited to discuss the properties, and are even given online offers exclusive to them.
This Friday 10th April 2009 both the InterContinental and Crowne Plaza hotels plan to go one step further, and offer their followers a free room giveaway. The first three Twitter Followers of each hotel to 'Tweet' a reply to their profiles at a certain time on Friday afternoon will receive a complimentary night's stay at the respective hotel, plus breakfast on Saturday 11th April 2009. The giveaway is the first of its kind for both of the hotels, and a demonstration of the new potential online marketing has for the industry.
Instructions of how to participate in the free room giveaway will be posted on the Twitter profiles for InterContinental and Crowne Plaza Dubai Festival City on Friday morning, which can be found at www.twitter.com/intercondfc and www.twitter.com/crowneplaza.com.
