Trends from the 1930's and 1980's back in fashion; Italian designs focus on casual style

Dubai, February 3, 2004: United Colors of Benetton’s spring collection is now available in the UAE, adding colour to the Dubai Shopping Festival. The collection is on sale at Benetton stores in - Deira City Centre, BurJuman and Jumeirah Centre.

“The launch of the Benetton spring collection is more great news for shoppers during DSF, and complements the half-price sale Benetton has on all pre-collection stock until February 15,” said Ajai Dayal, general manager, retail and marketing, at Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group - sole distributor of Benetton apparel in the UAE.

“The 50 per cent off sale has seen a whopping rise in the number of shoppers visiting our stores. We are excited at the prospect of the response to this new Benetton collection, which we are sure is going to pull in the crowds just as well. The Italian designs for spring this year are stylishly casual, offering a variety of cuts and colours to choose from”, continued Dayal.

A 1930’s twist describes the women’s range. The clothes are labelled ‘oh-so-chic’ and are made of materials like yarn, dyed cotton, georgette, silk crépon and linen, ideal for the warmer temperatures of spring.

Short jackets, knee length skirts, tank tops, and washed denim combine with cut blouses, jerseys, light dresses and smart trousers. And, as you would expect from a Benetton collection, there is a wide variety of colours like pastels, blue, orange, yellow and pink.

Children’s wear this spring is colourful and sporty with a Hawaiian flavour. Baseball tops and tracksuits go with multi-coloured and multi-patterned tee shirts, shorts and skirts.

Clothes for men have a 1980’s bent. Jeans, multi-pocket trousers, Bermuda shorts, tee-shirts, vests and bomber jackets with wording, stamps, prints and numbers are all the rage, and the choice of colours includes rich reds and blues, earth and sand tones.

“To offer customers a greater level of exclusivity, there is a limited amount of stock for the ranges, and the selections are changed every two weeks,” added Dayal.

Clothes in Benetton’s new spring collection are priced between Dhs40 and Dhs350. The new collection also includes shoes and accessories.
