This side event, that took place on Friday November 30th 2012 at 13.00 at the GCC Pavilion at the Qatar National convention Center QNCC, discussed the Illustrating energy efficiency approaches in the industrial sector, public awareness about saving energy, and technology.
Dr. Naif Alabbadi, General Director of Saudi Energy Efficiency Center, KACST, Saudi Arabia was the moderator and insisted on the needs and potential of Energy Efficiency in Saudi Arabia and on the fact that "the Kingdom is currently working on several comprehensive energy efficiency programs."
Ali H. Al-Qahtani, Energy Engineer, Saudi Aramco, Saudi Arabia, was one of the presenters speaking of Energy Management Program and highlighted that "energy efficiency is contributing to reducing Carbon Dioxide emissions."
Bandar Al-Qahtani, Energy Engineer, Saudi Aramco, Saudi Arabia, was another presenter who spoke of Cogeneration Program and stressed that cogeneration (simultaneous production of electricity and heat/steam) could save up to 221 MBDoe."
Dr. Boon S. Ooi, Professor of Electrical Engineering in the Division of Physical Sciences & Engineering at KAUST, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Saudi Arabia, said that "laser based white light must become the most used lighting tool in the KSA as lighting represents 20% of electricity consumption worlwide."
Abdullah Al-Ghatani, Lead Scientist at Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), Saudi Arabia, spoke of Energy Efficiency and focused on the fact that SABIC is one of the most innovative global chemical companies worldwide with 8000 global patents.
